Robinson v Harman [1848]

Defendant agreed to grant Plaintiff lease of house at
certain rent.
Rent below market value.
Defendant did not have title to house.
Plaintiff sued Defendant for breach.
Held Plaintiff could recover damages for loss of his
bargain as well as for his expenses.
Aim of damages in contract is to put parties in as
good a position as they would have been had contract been performed.
