Richards v Delbridge [1874]

Grandfather made endorsement of lease purporting to
transfer it to R.
Held that endorsement was ineffective to assign a
lease.
Endorsement also held to be ineffective as a
declaration of trust.
These were words of gift showing an intention to give
property to another, not an intention to retain property in donor’s own hands
for fiduciary purpose, as would be required for declaration of trust.
